Similes and Metaphors

Today, we learnt about similes and metaphors. Do revise what you have learnt.

Both similes and metaphors are figurative comparisons which can enrich our writing.

Similes = comparison of two things that are generally not alike (e.g. mind and sponge) and are usually introduced by 'like' or 'as'.
(e.g. Her mind is like a sponge absorbing all the details.)

Metaphors = comparison of two things but they are implied rather than introduced by 'like' or 'as'.
(e.g. Her mind is a sponge absorbing all the details.)
