Our First Week in School

Our first week of school has gone by. Thank you for sending me your thoughts on these few days.

Mavis' Reflections...

The first day of school falls on 4th January 2011. In the morning, Mr Chia gave the school a briefing. Then, it was followed by the flag-raising ceremony. I led the school to say the school pledge. After that, we went to our new classroom which is now on the fourth floor. I am sitting with Vanessa. I was excited to know who our teachers will be this year. Mrs Tay is our Form Teacher, Mr Lee is our new Maths teacher and Mr Ali is our new P.E. and Health Education teacher. I am so happy to know that Mrs Tay is our form teacher because I enjoy her lessons very much. We also have a new classmate named Zhi Ming. This year will be our final year in Endeavour and there will be an important examination somewhere in October, the PSLE.

On the second day of school, we have a test called "Can You Follow Instructions?" The first instruction said"Read all the questions before starting the test". I read till Question 8 and thought that I would not have enough time to complete the whole test so i started doing. I managed to finish question 21 and carried on reading. When I read question 28, I was so embarrassed that I felt like kicking myself.

For our first art lesson, we were to draw our friends' profile. The lesson was held at the AVA room as it was darker. We were grouped in groups of 4, I was with my best friends, Alina, Qun Mei and Cheryl. One of the four pupils will use the torchlight to shine on the the other pupil's face to have a shadow cast on the wall. As for the other two pupils, one of them will hold the paper while the other will draw the profile. When it was my turn, I must stand still so that my friends will be able to draw easily. When it was my turn to draw for them, I found that it was not easy as the light kept moving and the shadow was moving. It was very exciting and interesting. I really enjoyed my first week of school. I hope that for the rest of the term, it will be as fun as the first week of school.


Shawn Pang's Reflections ...

The first week of school went well and it was exciting as I can see my friends again. I was also surprised that my form teacher is Mrs Tay! She was our primary 3 and 5 form teacher. On the second day of school, Mrs Tay gave us a ''Can you follow instructions'' test. When I was at qustion 13, Mrs Tay told us to stop. When she explained the first instruction, I was embarrassed that I had been tricked! I learned that we must follow instructions before doing test and exam papers

What I enjoyed was our first art lesson. It was cool! The objective was to draw each other's profile in the dark. Mrs Tay gave us each a piece of paper and gave each group a torch. One of us shone the torch on another person's face. The other two held the paper and drew the person's profile. We were happy with each other's profiles

Our first P.E. lesson went out well too! We played basketball on our first P.E. lesson. It is one of my favourite sports so I enjoyed the lesson. This year, our P.E. teacher is Mr Ali and Mr Lee is our math teacher I was shocked that Mr Lee is both our math teacher and science teacher

I want to do well this year because I want to go into a good secondary school. I want to study hard for 9 months and after our PSLE I can spend the days playing and hanging out with friends. I am sure that iI will achieve what I want and enjoy secondary school next year... Although we may not go to the same school, we can still communicate online.


Odelia's Reflections...

The first week of school was a fun and exciting experience for me. On the first day, I was especially excited and nervous and I was wondering who our teacher will be and I hoped that Mrs. Tay will be our form teacher. It's normal to be excited and nervous on the first day of school. Besides, it's our final year in the school and there is an extremely important examination, sometime in October. That exam will be our first nationwide examination and it will decide our future.

The first few things were what I expected. Mrs. Tay is our form teacher, Mr. Lee is our science teacher, but, what I did not expect was that Mr. Lee would be our mathematics teacher, and Mrs. Tan will not be teaching us one of our tested subjects in PSLE. Mr. Ali is our new P.E Teacher and our Health Education Teacher. I think he is a funny teacher. I look forward to learning from my new teachers. We also have a new classmate named Zhi Ming.

For our first art lesson, we went to the AVA Room and we had to trace our profiles. AOn the second day of school, we were given an unusual test. It was called "Can you follow Instructions?". Almost all of us failed to failed instructions. We had an extended period on this day and Thursday. That was interesting. On the third day of school, we had our first P.E lesson. We got to know our P.E teacher and got to play lots of fun games. As for our first music lesson, we had to do... THE CHICKEN DANCE!!! It's ridiculous, I mean it's so childish!!


Vanessa's Reflections...

The first week of school went quite well. Mrs Tay is our form teacher as I expected but I did not expect Mr Lee to be our math and science teacher. I was shocked as I thought that Mr Lee is only a science teacher.

Mrs Tay gave us the''Can you follow instructions'' test. I had done this test during 1 of my tuition classes and I was the only one who did not fall for the trick. I was amused to see my friends clapping their hands and doing wierd stuff. I also did all sorts of wierd stuff during my tuition! From this test, I learned that I need to follow instructions in everything I do, especially now that I'm in primary 6 this year. I have to be extra careful and not make any careless mistakes so that I can get into a good school.

What i enjoyed most was our art lesson. The objective was to draw each other's profile in the dark. Each group had 4 persons and we were given 4 pieces of paper and a torch. In order to be able to shine the torch and trace the shadow of one another,we had to go to a dark place, so we went to the AVA room. While having the art lesson, we had to apply some science concepts. I thought that it was both fun and educational. From this lesson, I also learnt that we had to work together as a team to get one another's profile drawn nicely on paper.

I really wish that I would do really well for the coming PSLE. I hope to get into a good school. Although I may not be able to see my some of my friends again, we could keep in contact by either the web or by the phone. Hope this year would be a fun and educational year without any misery:D


Thu Ta Aung's Reflections...

On the first day of school, I was excited because I was going to see my friends and a new classroom. When I entered the school, I saw many parents in front of the library. Our new classroom is on the fourth floor, near the staircase. Lessons started on the second day. On Friday, we had a temperature taking exercise instead of fitness Friday. It was a fun week


Phu's Reflections...

The first day of school started on Tuesday, 4th of January.When I arrived at school, I saw many parents, new teachers and new students. I found out that my form teacher is still Mrs Tay. My math and science teacher is Mr Lee and my Chinese teacher is Ms Leow. Our new classroom is now on the fourth floor.This year, we have a new classmate called Zhiming. He was from 5B last year. We also did a test called 'Can you follow instructions?' It was very funny when I found out what the trick was. I had a great first week.


Cheryl's Reflections...

I missed school very much! I am glad that not all the teachers have left us. We still have the same English, Chinese and Science teachers. Previously, Math is taught by Mrs Tan for 2 years. Now, she is replaced by Mr Lee. I hope I can meet up to his expectations in Math and Science. This is a year that will stress all of us out. The pupils, the teachers, the principal, the parents are really under a lot of stress. PSLE is coming. I hope that all of us, together as a class, can clear this obstacle successfully.
